A Quiet Thanksgiving
This year, Thanksgiving will be just the three of us... a quiet long weekend filled with cooking, decorating, and soaking up family time. We’ll go get our live Christmas tree, fill the house with the smells of turkey and pie, and enjoy a little calm before the next round of celebration when my parents visit.
There’s a peace that comes with slower holidays, when the pressure to do and go fades a little. I’ve come to really appreciate that space - it gives me time to reset before the rush of December projects and events. I love the simplicity and cozy-ness of it all, a movie, finally getting those lights twinkling on the tree, and time that isn’t rushed.
Quiet holidays have a different kind of magic. I get to soak in the small things, like how the house feels in the morning, hanging our family Christmas stockings, and really taking in the memory of how our little family was in this time that seems to be slipping away.
The slower rhythm always recharges my creativity, even if I don’t realize it right away.
